Stacy and Gordon Esession
Scott Robert photographya brand new look at life www.scottrobertphotography.comStacy & Gordon in Los Angeles, CAStacy and Gordon are such a fun couple. I appreciated that they wanted to shoot in downtown Los Angeles, not many couples request this location but there are many cool places to shoot downtown. I can't believe their wedding is next week, it has been almost an entire year since we first met. We have many common friends, I'm not sure why I didn't know them earlier in my life, perhaps because I'm so old! hahaaha. We went to the Standard Hotel but got kicked out real fast!!! Oh well, I got to sneak a couple great photos in!! I'm not sure why places are so hung up about not shooting at their locations, it is just more publicity for them!! Does the Eiffel Tower have a problem people taking pictures of it??? I think not!!! Some places, like Pink Berries, need to take a chill pill - they prevented me to use my iPhone to take a photo of my friends eating yogurt. People want to remember the positive experience of your business so let them!!! If you have a public business or service, certain aspects of your business need to be public but I think business owners want it all, they want the PUBLIC to buy their goods or services but they over control access to it. I'm sorry but you can't have your cake and eat it too sometimes!!Also thanks to Bandele who helped me on this session- the off camera flash really came out nice on a few of these images!I currently use the below equipment, click for more info...

Caribbean Cruise 2008 Part 3
Scott Robert photographya brand new look at life www.scottrobertphotography.comCaribbean Day 2- AmazingThanks to all who attended:Agnes- SingaporeDean- North CarolinaEsther- AtlantaBandele- UKChryssy- UKChristina- San FranciscoTauran- Los Angeles- Just posted some breathtaking images!Christiana & Roger- Orange CountyDonna- VirginiaLucy- BrazilLiz- San FranciscoCaribbean Cruise Workshop, Key West, Day 2Day 2 is usually the time when the group really starts to bond and create amazing friendships. From sunrise to sunset to 2am in morning, I can't think of too many times, I've had a better day in my life. The mixture of exploring incredible places, photography, learning, teaching, being inspired, sharing, eating, laughing, getting ripped off by taxi drivers, ocean breeze, dropping expensive sunglasses on the ocean floor and recovering them, wild taxi rides, eating, getting dressed up for the Captain's dinner, eating, enjoying a sunset, learning Lightroom, sharing amazing images, dancing, drinking alcohol, sweating, eating midnight buffet, talking, sharing, laughing, going to bed exhausted- is just something I will never forget.Enjoy the images below, but incredibly enough, the next day was even more breathtaking! Thanks to Michelle and Adam who hung in there with us, they were great models! My day started off looking out my window and seeing this, not a bad start!
We broke up into three groups, my group mostly watched how I would set up shots, the things I look for, how I find light, how I pose, etc. We walked around the little downtown area of Key West and then finally made our way down to the beach!
I can't believe we all climbed into one Taxi, we barely made it back to the ship before deporting- we scrambled like mad to find a taxi by the beach!
We all got dressed up for our one formal dinner! Everyone looked so hot!
Esther and Liz enjoying our sunset view!
The two sisters, Casey and Kristen wanted me to take their portrait, I really love this shot and I got to demonstrate how to use an off camera flash! We had a little Lightroom class after this and then most of us went dancing and ended the night at the midnight buffet!I currently use the below equipment, click for more info...

In Memory of Bunson
Scott Robert photographya brand new look at life www.scottrobertphotography.comIn Memory of BunsonA day before my birthday on May 7, Bunson, our beloved rabbit of 10 years, peacefully passed away. His partner Puffer passed away about 3 years ago. They were so cute together- see video below of Puffer taking care of Bunson.I know they were only rabbits but they were great pets, when people visited us, they couldn't believe how cool rabbits could be as pets. They roamed our house freely and were litterbox trained.I know this sounds a bit silly but before Stacey and I had kids, these two were our kids so they will always have a special place in our hearts. They lived a great life and we have many fond memories that will last a lifetime. It is sad not having them part of our lives any more but we will always remember them. This post is a tribute to Bunson and Puffer- I like to think they are in bunny heaven reunited again!I currently use the below equipment, click for more info...

world's best breakdancers!!!
Scott Robert photographya brand new look at life www.scottrobertphotography.comWorld's Best DancersAriel at OFFbeat Bride was nice enough to feature my work on her blog (I feel like a celebrity now). When I mention this wedding I always talk about how Steelo and his boys are the world's best breakdancers and performed this dance off tribute to Steelo and how I was like 5 feet from the action and had the best seat in the house, etc, etc.Well, Ariel found the YOU TUBE of the dancing!!! It was so cool to see this again. I'm not sure who captured this because the main videographer was right next to me upfront- you can see his video light in the You Tube. Every second you will see a flash go off- that is my camera! hahaaha.Enjoy this one....Click the YouTube image above to view dancing you can see my slideshow of their wedding- I have several photos I took of the breakdancing.I currently use the below equipment, click for more info...

Caribbean Workshop, Part 2
Scott Robert photographya brand new look at life www.scottrobertphotography.comCaribbean Day 1- AnticipationThanks to all who attended:Agnes- SingaporeDean- North CarolinaEsther- AtlantaBandele- UKCasey, Kristen, Michelle & Adam- TexasChryssy- UKChristina- San FranciscoTauran- Los AngelesChristiana & Roger- Orange CountyDonna- VirginiaLucy- BrazilLiz- San Francisco"Anticipation"... would be the one word that would describe the first day of our workshop. That morning many of us gathered for breakfast at an outside cafe. The sun was bright and warm already. As the laughter and excitement filled the air, a stranger pulled me aside and was extremely curious how this marvelous group of people from all parts of the world could be connected. I told him it was a photography class and we are going on a cruise together. He was truly impressed by the diversity and closeness of our group and for some reason his comments made me feel extremely proud. It was great to see how photography can cross all types of cultural/social barriers and form a common bond. It also reminded me of how fortunate I am to have friends from around the world!I remember walking around and mentioning how great it would be to do a workshop just in South Beach. It was kinda like the kid getting excited in the Toy section at Target and not realizing Toys R Us was right next door. Miami was just a precursor to many great things to come.Just getting us all on board the the ship and settled in our cabins was a chore. We had our first dinner together and I gave my first talk on my Seven Deadly Lighting Techniques. We then got our first shot at taking pictures with our models at night on the ship. Going outside on the deck felt so like the movie Titanic, the moonlight, the ocean, the warm tropical air just had a way of painting a romantic atmosphere. My students probably took better pictures than I did. I didn't really shoot that much, I was going around to each group giving them a few ideas here and there. Some of their images are amazing so I hope they post!!Some of finished the night off by dancing at the 25yr -35yr club till 1 am or so- however at 45, I still fit in luckily!! hahaah. And after working up an appetite we finished the day off with a midnight buffet which became our ritual!A good night's sleep and then the morning greeted us in the amazing Key West, the most southern part of the US! Stay tuned for more! Here I demonstrated how simple lighting techniques can create drama and impactOur view while eating breakfast.

Caribbean Cruise 2008 Part 1
Scott Robert photographya brand new look at life www.scottrobertphotography.comCaribbean Day 0- Meet and GreetThanks to all who attended- I feel so blessed to have friends around the world...Agnes- SingaporeDean- North CarolinaEsther- AtlantaBandele- UKCasey, Kristen, Michelle & Adam- TexasChryssy- UKChristina- San FranciscoTauran- Los AngelesChristiana & Roger- Orange CountyDonna- VirginiaLucy- BrazilLiz- San FranciscoI'm not quite sure how to describe a Next Level, destination workshop- my thoughts on the subject are enormous. I just received an email from Audrey and she had mentioned it was "one of the best weeks of her life". WOW! What a huge compliment. I immediately let me wife read the email because if it wasn't for her, holding down the fort with my two girls, there would be no Next Level Caribbean, UK, NYC, Paris, Spain, etc. Stacey, my wife is so much a part of this process. Many other students have expressed similar feelings and I am truly humbled and elated how the other students and I can add value to a person's life. I have come to the conclusion, the more value I can give to someone, the more rewarding the experience. I am addicted to wanting to help people in their photography career and in life. I pinch myself because just a few years ago, I was completely down about my life and now I'm living my dream and helping others find theirs! ( www.scottrobertstory.com ) . These workshops also help me to become a better photographer too and I can come back to work refreshed and invigorated.I feel so privileged to be a mentor to these students. Here is how I spend my time at a workshop: 30% percent on technical aspects, another 30% trying to instill confidence and to encourage a life change that will help, 30% enjoying new friendships and deepening old ones and 10% just being weird and enjoying new experiences together. 100% of the time having fun and enjoying life. All those who have been on both a 2 day workshop and a 4 day, will ALL agree that a 4-5 day destination experience is many times as rewarding. It was so nice to see all of us bond so well together, heck we even had some of the "models" and non-photography friends sitting in my photography marketing class taking notes and I was shocked when one said, "Scott, you've convinced me to change my job- I want more out of life...." I love to mix life principles with my photography teaching. I'm an old dude and have made a ton of mistakes in my life and I love to share what has shaped my journey.I'm not saying the workshop is perfect, there are many things I can improve but overall, I got a sense that we all shared some really special and significant moments together and learned much and gained new friendships with people who can add to our lives. Each workshop gets better and better. Special thanks to Casey who helped me pull this together who sacrificed so much by being away from her precious family. And to all the "models" (we didn't use any professional models but real couples who like to enjoy life and put up with us crazy photographers). I'm thinking Mediterranean Cruise next year- Anyone interested?
Some of us came in a day early to Miami, South Beach. Of course we didn't sit around, we had to get out there and shoot! We didn't have any models but luckily some of us didn't mind posing for the camera! Here are some shots around Miami South Beach, a great place to visit.Bandele mixing it up with his new fans
Within minutes these two became great friends!

super tease E sessions, what's up with Scott Robert
Scott Robert photographya brand new look at life www.scottrobertphotography.comSuper Tease E sessionsStacy & GordonHang on tight because from here on out till the rest of the year, my life will be on high speed. Just within two weeks, I've done four engagement sessions- San Jose, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Pedro and taught a workshop that went to: South Beach- Miami, Key West, Cozumel Mexico and back to Miami. I also had a chance to photograph Jeremy Camp, Rebecca St. James and the FishFest Concert in Irvine Sunday night- so nice having access to the front row!
I've got a ton of imagery to show so hang in there with me. I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile but I promise to get on track- I'm just trying to catch my breath and work on images!
Although my life is hectic, I wouldn't have it any other way, I just love what I do and the people I meet. I truly feel blessed and I can't wait to share more of what I've been up to!
Here are a few tease photos from three Engagement sessions that I recently photographed...

my 1989 wedding pictures, I weighed 108lbs!!
Scott Robert photographya brand new look at life www.scottrobertphotography.com1989 vs 2007Click to see photos of my 1989 wedding album- I was 108 lbs. Here is my current 2007 WPPI Award Winning Album
I just wanted to congratulate Kyla, my award winning album designer. This year at WPPI we received an international award of excellence. If anyone is interested in having Kyla design an album, please feel free to contact me scott@scottrobertgallery.com As you can see from my marvelous wedding album, when I got married in 1989, wedding photography was no where near the art form that it is today. I think my wedding pictures are so cheesy that the images would be great for vintage 1989 stock photography! I guess, I would have to have my friends and family sign model releases. I hope you liked a blast from the past. When we showed our daughters our wedding pictures they asked who I was and didn't even recognize me! It is what it is.
