Jane, the most famous, vivacious and AKA Ms. Cherry Blossom who writes for the Wedding Bee has been thinking about this session for many months. I remember reading her blog after she and Jason met with me for the first time, she said some really nice things about me and it humbled me. All of us with artistic careers, try soooo hard to make it and when someone believes in us and shouts it from the mountain top, we feel so blessed and often it comes as a big surprise. We can NEVER think we've made it in this biz and to stay driven, it is more practical to consider ourselves unknown. She appreciated my artistic vision and introduced so many people to my work. I just want to publicly thank her for all her support.
Jason and Jane are very sincere and caring people and they make such an awesome and FUN couple. I really wanted the world to know them and capture their spunky and unique relationship in my own creative way. Bandele who assisted me, in his dashing British accent said, "We're with celebrities"- it seemed like everywhere we went, we kept running into people they knew. I guess living in the city for a couple decades+ and having parents who own a popular restaurant for 25 years helps a bit, btw I loved the food and the ambiance- they fed us so much, I could barely walk!
Enjoy this one and see a different side of the City. Jason and Jane wear it well!

Scott Robert photographya brand new look at life www.scottrobertphotography.comSan Francisco WorkshopHere I demonstrated how I find perfect light for a portrait which can be found almost anywhere.Thanks to all those who came out to our SF workshop! It was a bit cold and windy but the sky was perfect and we had the most amazing time. It was great to see old friends and make new ones and to see how far some have progressed. Although the workshop is based on learning technical skills, I feel that we get to know and help each other on so many deeper levels- self confidence, domestic management, creating an individual style, etc. I felt so blessed that people came from all over the world to learn, laugh, share new experiences and develop relationships with a great group of people. Can't wait to do it again in the Bay Area.

What a great place to hang out and get a little sun and R and R.I'm not really a landscape photographer but I like to think I can be!

Our beautiful Wendy
Scott Robert photographya brand new look at life www.scottrobertphotography.comOur beautiful Wendy(my little sister-in-law all grown up)This is my wife's beautiful sister Wendy. Stacey (my wife) likes this photo I took of Wendy this weekend.This reminds me of the Wendy I met 20 years ago.
This is the favorite photo my mother-in-law likes. This is the Wendy the public sees most of the time. To get this shot, we laugh about how we both had to walk into a small public bathroom, lock the door behind us and how I had to stand on top of a toilet seat! I go where the light is good.
This is the Wendy that I wanted to capture, the new side of Wendy. After I took this photo in the back of my car, we both laughed as I mentioned I'm now gonna see my back seat in a whole different light because usually there's a babyseat and a booster chair back there!!! I needed to get Wendy away from our four kids (her 2 and my 2), grandma and grandpa and remove all distractions so I could capture the many sides of Wendy that I see in her.
This is my favorite photo of Wendy. I know you can't see her figure which defines her as a woman but I just like seeing her all grown up, classy, fashionable and sophisticated. She is a very intelligent person but because of her bubbly personality, you have to look hard to see this side of her.If anyone deserves a photos session, it would be Wendy- my gorgeous little sister-in-law. I remember meeting Wendy for the first time 20 years ago when I was dating Stacey. I always thought she was so fun and easy going- she laughed at all my jokes so naturally I loved her from the get go. Back then she was a "husky" senior in high school (we affectionately refer to the old Wendy as "husky"- an inside the family joke). But to be honest, it was true, she was a bit "husky"- I'll have to show you my wedding photos some day, oh man, hilarious photos of me also. I know this sounds very mean but I just want to emphasize how proud we are of her.Wendy makes me sick with envy because not only is she a devoted wife of 10+ years, mother of two beautiful girls, successful professional, much beloved aunty of my two children, and loving daughter- she has worked very hard for 20 years to look better with each year that passes. She is extremely disciplined. Every week or so she mentions she is running this or that half marathon, worked out for two hours today or ran five miles, etc. She's always a figgin' constant reminder that I'm losing physicality as I get older and she's looking hotter and hotter! Late bloomers always have a lot of character.It is a joy to see our Wendy develop and grow into the person she always wanted to be. It is my own personal opinion that after she worked so hard on her health and body, she could transform herself into the stylish, fashionable and very hip mommy, wife and professional she wanted to be all along. I think she is the best she has ever looked right now, 20 years past high school and 10 years past her wedding day. That is an awesome example to me and to many of us. She's an inspiration in my book.Funny how you can change one thing for the better in your life and your whole world will change. I think this is what happened to me too when I found photography (www.scottrobertstory.com ) Our two new worlds collided this weekend and look at the images we created.I'm so proud to show off and present to you my "little sister" version 2.0- Wendy!!

A method on determining if you HOT or NOT.I've figured out a way to determine if you HOT or NOT through Facebook! If you've been active in Facebook for several months, this test is fairly accurate. As a photographer I know people naturally gravitate to taking pictures of beauty- a sunset, a flower, a baby, your children and yes, beautiful people. You can't help it, we are programmed to do it. Take myself for example, I like taking pictures of women- the most beautiful of God's creation- guess that is why I'm a wedding photographer.Which leads me to my brilliant conclusion that if there are MORE photos taken of you by other people than pictures of your friends, then you are indeed a beautiful person or famous or both. I always knew I wasn't one of those hotties, I'm short, old and gain weight easily. Another amazing year at WPPI!WPPI is one of my favorite weeks of the year. Everyone who attends this amazing photography conference will understand. When you first attend, most likely you only know a few people but you begin to meet more every year- photographers who have the same passion and determination as yourself who go through the same struggles and successes. We also get to learn from the greatest photographers in the world, talk to them, ask them questions, take pictures with them, etc. Then after a few years, you can't walk 100 feet without seeing someone you know.
After 3 or 4 days, you feel like your gonna burst with excitement, inspiration, knowledge, the blessing of new friends and contacts, etc! Every year I come away feeling better than ever- inspired and enriched by a community of photographers, 11,000+ who want to improve the industry. This year I decided to throw a little party to kick off www.redrocketclicks.com . I was a little nervous no one would show up but so many people came out and it was so much fun- just want to thank EVERYONE who dropped by. Next year, I'm already planning a bigger and better party with a DJ, dance floor etc. I also gave away one free pass to my Paris workshop in September- a $1,500 give-a-way! Sarah was the lucky winner. (photo right)
I remember walking around the first morning and my friend Bandele from the UK said, "OMG, I just met Bob Davis and Bambi Cantrell within a span of 5 min!"

On the way home from Las Vegas we found a nice place to shoot in the desert. I wish we could have stayed longer but I wanted to get home before my girls went to bed! Lightroom is the Future!
All these photos where edited in Lightroom with my presets (www.redrocketclicks.com) A click here and there and your done! My presets will dramatically speed up your workflow and add my signature editing style to yourworkflow. For more examples see this ALBUM.Adobe Lightroom is the FutureLightroom is an amazing program at a great price. If you are a student or have children who are students, you can find this program for around $100 online with proof of student ID. It will not only speed up your workflow and help organize your images. It has powerful, non-destructive editing tools which means you can make numerous changes to your image but not alter the original image. I like to present images to my clients in different ways, sepia, color, modified crops, etc without having to make multiple duplicates of images or worry about altering the original image. It works with JPG and Raw. I shoot JPG.It also greatly speeds up workflow issues because LR can cook one image to your liking and then sync your recipe to other images which allows you to correct hundreds of images very quickly. You can save these recipes into "presets" to use on other projects. If you would like to use my recipes for cooking your own images with my signature style, I will soon be offering my presets online for purchase with instructions on how to maximize their use.I will be showing how to use my presets and lightroom at our launch party in Vegas IF interested. I'm NOT going to make everyone sit through any kind of presentation but so many people have asked me about my presets I thought I'd give an opportunity to those who want to see them in action.After using Lightroom for about a year now, not only has my worflow greatly improved but I can create a more diverse set of imagery for my clients. I still use Photoshop but probably 80% less. Lightroom is worth the investment.
