    Picture 2

I really liked this movie. It emphasized the value of being committed to both the pursuit of your dreams and to relationships that are important to you. It based on a true story and it is proof that we live in one of the greatest countries in the world because of the opportunities we all have to better our lives and achieve our dreams if we have the undying spirit of determination and the ability to overcome obstacles that seem impossible.

There were two scenes that really touched me; one when the main character Chris Gardner was tucking his son into bed at a homeless shelter and despite their misfortune his son still thought of his dad as a super hero, the second where he had to sleep in a public restroom with his son. It was so sad to see a man work so hard for his family and be such a good person and yet find himself in such a humiliating place to sleep. I have never slept in a homeless shelter or a public restroom but I can truly relate with the feeling of giving it all for your family but then finding that all your efforts seem like they are putting your family in a worse situation. I think everyone who pursues something huge and rewarding will encounter impossible roadblocks and misfortune. It is just part of life.

I once heard that a great majority of the top 10% money earners where also at the bottom 10%. This really makes sense to me because the people who learn to overcome difficult circumstances in life often become the most successful.

If your in the midst of a great trial, do not fret, you're just on the road to success!

  • Thanks for the movie review. I definitely want to see this movie.

  • I just saw this movie too and loved it.  It was very touching and inspiring.

  • Just had to say how much I LOVE your work!!  You are an awesome photographer!!   Thanks also for sharing your journey and how God was faithful through it all!!  What a powerful testimony of God's goodness.

Also, the movie sounds great.  I'm gonna have to see if I can get my hubby to take me...

  • I was just curious what your thoughts were on purchasing a refurbished digital SLR?

  • IttyBitty0220, there is nothing wrong with using pre owned equipment as long as it is from a reputable source. When I first started out, I always bought used equipment because there was so much stuff I needed, I couldn't afford to buy everything new. As I became more successful in my business I began to buy everything new because I made sure I priced my services high enough so I could afford to buy new equipment.

  • Looks like a great movie, I will have to check it out next week. I just saw Rocky last night and that was pretty good, I recommend it as another good inspiring movie. have a great new years.

  • I haven't seen this movie yet but its definitely on top of my list! I'm a sucker for tear jerkers! Btw, you take wonderful pics!!
